Edit Document Request List (DRL)

Document Request List (DRL) is based on your clients' proforma data from last tax year's tax return, as pulled from your tax software. Create Custom DRLs for clients before you can edit and send them DRL.

Edit DRL
feature is only available for clients who haven’t been sent a DRL for the current tax year.

View Document request

Follow these steps to view Document Request Lists for each client:
  1. Sign in to TaxCaddy.
  2. Go to
    Administrative
    then
    Client Management
    .
    Select Administrative then CLIENT MANAGMENT.
  3. Select the
    MANAGE CLIENTS
    menu.
    Select the MANAGE CLIENTS menu.
  4. Select
    Create Custom DRL
    or
    Send DRL
    .
    Select Create Custom DRL.
  5. To edit a client's DRL, select the
    Menu
    icon, then select
    Edit DRL
    .
    note
    You won’t see
    Edit DRL
    as an available option if you didn’t select
    Create Custom DRL
    or
    Send DRL
    from the
    MANAGE CLIENTS
    menu.
  6. The
    STATUS
    column shows which clients are eligible for
    Edit DRL
    . The
    Edit DRL
    option is only enabled for clients with the following status:
    • Under
      CREATE CUSTOM DRL
      , the status should be
      COMPLETED
      .
      COMPLETED status for CREAT CUSTOM DRL
    • Under
      SEND DRL
      , the status should be
      Not Sent
      .
      NOT SENT status in the STATUS column
    note
    - The
    Edit DRL
    option will be disabled (under
    Create Custom DRL
    or
    Send DRL
    ) for clients that have already been sent DRL. To only see clients that are eligible to receive a DRL request, select
    Send DRL
    and find clients with the status
    Not Sent
    .
    - Edit DRL
    is not available for clients who are currently not connected. Please make sure the
    Invite Status
    is set to
    Connected
    .
    The
    Reset DRL
    and
    Edit DRL
    options will be disabled (under
    Create Custom DRL
    or
    Send DRL
    ) for clients that have already been sent DRL. You can use the filter feature to narrow down the client list to only see clients with the proper status (for example,
    Completed
    ,
    Not Sent)
    . select
    ADD FILTER CATEGORIES
    >
    Status
    > then select the checkbox to filter clients.
    Select a DRL-related filter.
  7. Edit Document Request List
    screen will appear. The document request list for the client will appear at the bottom.

Add document request

Follow these steps to add documents to the Document request list:
  1. On the
    Edit Document Request List
    screen, select
    Add Document Request
    .
    Select ADD DOCUMENT REQUEST.
  2. The
    Document Request
    window will appear. select on a category to select it. The Requested document will be placed in the selected category once it is uploaded.

  3. Select
    Add New...
    to create a new subcategory.
    Select Add New from the Document Request window.
  4. Enter a name for the new subcategory, then select the
    Save
    icon.
    Save the new category.
  5. After the subcategory is listed, select
    DONE
    to save the subcategory.
    note
    You can select
    Add New...
    to add a new subcategory to the list. Only the latest subcategory will be used.
    Select DONE.
  6. The new document request will be added to the end of the Document Request List.

Remove document request

Follow these steps to edit Document Request Lists for each client:
  1. On the
    Edit Document Request List
    screen, select the checkbox next to the document to remove it from the document request list. Deleted documents will not be sent to the customer as a requested item.
    Select a category's checkbox.
  2. To search for a specific document on the
    Edit Document Request List
    screen, enter the document name in the search field on the upper-right side.
    Search for a specific category.
  3. The selected documents are deleted from the document request list before they are saved or sent.
    1. Select
      Save
      to save the edited DRL. The saved DRL won’t be sent to the client.

      appears when you select
      Save
      .
      Select yes or no to save.
      1. Select
        Yes
        to remove the document and save the DRL.
      2. Select
        No
        to cancel.
    2. Select
      Send
      to save and then send the edited DRL.

      Send DRL
      window appears when you select
      Send
      .
      Select yes or no to sent the DRL.
      1. Select
        Yes
        to remove the document before you send the DRL.
      2. Select
        No
        to cancel.
