Upload files to client's Uploaded Documents

Troubleshoot: Upload documents for tax return types not supported by TaxCaddy

By default, TaxCaddy lets you and your clients upload 1040 tax return documents. You can also create a 1041 tax return profile where your clients can upload documents related to the 1041 tax return. However, if your client needs to upload documents for different tax return types, then you can create custom categories as an alternative. You can then request your clients to select that category when uploading documents.

Add custom document categories

The following section will briefly explain how to add tax return types as custom document request categories.
Full details about adding additional document categories.
  1. After signing in to TaxCaddy, go to
    Administrative
    , then
    Document Request List
    .
  2. Select
    Add Category
    .
  3. Enter the name of the tax return type you are adding and press the
    Enter
     key to save.
  4. The newly added return type will be available in the
    Upload Documents
     window when you or your client are uploading documents.

Taxpayer experience

After your client signs in, they can select the upload panel under
Quick Access Options
.
Next, on the
Upload Documents
 window, your clients will see the new category name in the list. Instruct your clients to upload documents associated with the specific tax return types to the designated category (for example, 1065 - Partnership Income Documents).
