Classes-Subclasses
You can add multiple classes and subclasses to the system. ONESOURCE Tax Provision provides a default class and subclass. A description can define a subclass. The combination of the class and subclass makes the tax adjustment entry unique.
There are 5 different classes:
- Data Entry
- Systems
- Flow-Through
- Transfer
- True-Up
Lock a class
Select
to lock the class, which prevents you from deleting it, changing its name, or removing assignments. A lock appears next to the class.

You can view the entire list of classes and subclasses when you expand the view.

Data entry
Users define Data Entry classes and subclasses. An administrator assigns these classes and subclasses to tax adjustments. User groups receive assignments of system classes.

ONESOURCE Tax Provision creates system classes and subclasses. It applies these automation classes and subclasses to certain tax adjustments. The system assigns the classes to user groups.

Users define Flow-Through classes. ONESOURCE Tax Provision creates the subclasses. The system assigns these classes to tax adjustments. An administrator assigns system classes to user groups.

Transfer
Users define Transfer classes. ONESOURCE Tax Provision creates the subclasses. The system assigns these classes to certain tax adjustments. An administrator assigns system classes to user groups.

True-up
There are 2 default True-up classes, and users can define additional ones. ONESOURCE Tax Provision creates the subclasses. The system assigns these classes to tax adjustments. An administrator assigns the system classes to user groups.

During the Advanced True-Up Posting process, ONESOURCE Tax Provision creates a default subclass based on the year of the source and comparison datasets. It identifies it in the Dataset Relations configuration of the source dataset.
New classes and subclasses
The class identifies each line entered in the originating source.
To add classes and subclasses:
- SelectAdministrationand thenManage Data Options.
- SelectClasses/Subclassesand then one of the classes. For example, selectData Entry.
- Select
to add a new class or subclass, and then enter the new class code.
noteThe system selects the Display Name same as Code by default. - SelectDisplay Name same as Codeto remove the option.
- Enter theDisplay Name.
- SelectSub-Tierof and then Class. For example, selectDefault, GL Automation, orPre-Tax Book Income.
- SelectOK.
Edit classes and subclasses
To edit classes and subclasses:
- Select the class or subclass, then selectEdit.
- SelectEdit Class/Subclass.
- Enter the new class name, then selectOK.
Delete classes and subclasses
To delete classes and subclasses:
- Select theClass/Subclassand then selectDelete.
- SelectOKto delete, or selectCancelto close without deleting the class/subclass.
