How to Add New (Empty) Datasets

An empty dataset creates a new dataset to enter new information that is not already in the application.
To add an empty dataset:
  1. In Administration, select
    Manage Datasets > Datasets
    .
  2. Select
    Add
     to add a dataset. Show Me The Add New Dataset wizard appears. Show Me
  3. Type a
    Name
    .
    • The Dataset Name is user-defined and can be any combination of alpha-numeric characters, including spaces, up to 60 characters.
    • You can edit the Dataset Name.
    • The dataset name appears in My Datasets, Review & Edit and report headers.
  5. Select the dataset Type:
    PROV
    , or
    EST PYMT
    .
    • PROV
       - Provision Dataset: Create Provision datasets to calculate the tax provision.
    • EST PYMT
       - Estimated Payment Dataset: Create Estimated Payment datasets to calculate the current liability.
  7. Select a
    Fiscal Year
     from the list. By default, the current year appears in the Fiscal Year field. You can type a year or select a year from the drop-down list.
  8. Select a
    Fiscal Period
    . For example, you can select FY - FY: full year. The Fiscal Period defines whether the data in a dataset represents a month, several months, a quarter, or a year. You can type a year or select a year from the drop-down list.
  9. Select a Group Rate Unit (optional). The Group Rate Unit automatically activates and is added to the new Dataset.
    note
    This option is only available for the PROV Dataset type.
  10. Type a
    Group Rate %
    . The Effective Tax Rate report uses the group rate as the statutory rate to which the provision reconciles.
    note
    If a Group Rate Unit is selected, the Group Rate % automatically populates with the corresponding current tax rate of the Group Rate Unit country.
  11. If required by your administrator, enter a Case #. This is an optional field primarily for exporting data to compliance software.
  12. Select
    Empty
     for the dataset Transaction.
  13. Select
    Tags
     or
    Classes & Subclasses
     to apply a data source to the dataset for reporting functionality.
  14. Using tags or classes/subclasses in Data Entry Help and Support pages lets you indicate the source of your data for review purposes. Using tags or classes/subclasses lets you keep track of your data entry amounts by tag or class/subclass.
    1. If using a dataset with tags, select
      Tags
       to apply tags as the data source for the dataset.
    2. If using a dataset with classes, select
      Classes & Subclasses
       to apply classes and subclasses as the data source for the dataset.
  16. Select
    Yes
    , if the dataset is a Read Only dataset. Otherwise, the default is
    No
     and you can enter information into the dataset.
  17. Select
    Done
    .
