you can create user-defined states and jurisdictions. You can add a State Code, Name, State Types, Beginning Deferred Rate, Ending Deferred Rate, and State Rate.To import a new state or jurisdiction, complete the appropriate fields on the
#CS# States
worksheet in the Import Categories Template.Code and Name
- The State Codes is user-defined and can be any combination of alpha and numeric characters, including spaces, up to 60 characters.
- You can edit the State/Jurisdiction name.
- State names appear inManage Units(Jurisdictionlink), as well as someDatasetlevel configurations such asJournal Entry Profiles(i.e. state level Journal Entry).
- You can delete custom state or jurisdiction codes/names that have no data entered for them in any dataset.
- The State Code and Name appear in the header of reports.
- You can assign the State Type to group states together, designate Mass Update Rates, enter the Beginning Deferred and Ending Deferred Rates and enter the State Tax Rates. State Types are used inJournal Entry Profilesand inUnitlevelJournal Entryconfigurations.

You cannot modify the system's pre-populated State and Jurisdiction Codes.
