0008 e-file error

Acceptance Validation: Missing or Invalid Foreign Province or State (rule 008).
You'll get this error if the country, province, or state in the return is incorrect.

Solution

  1. Go to the South Carolina General folder.
  2. Select the
    General
     tab.
  3. Check the
    County code number
     field for accuracy:
    • If the return is in South Carolina, select the correct South Carolina county code.
    • If the return isn't from a South Carolina county, use codes
      88 - Outside of the United States
      ,
      89 - Within the US, outside of SC
      , or
      90 - APO/FPO Addresses
      .
  4. Go to the US General folder.
  5. Select the
    1040
     tab.
  6. Check the Residence Information section to make sure it's correct.
    • If the return is foreign, add a period to the
      State
       field and insert the address normally.
  7. Recreate the e-file and retransmit.
