F8283-024 e-file error
If "Contributions of Motor Vehicles, Boats, and Airplanes Statement" [ContributionsOfMotorVehiclesBoatsAndAirplanesStatement] is attached to Section A 'InformationOnDonatedProperty', then Line 1 Column (b) checkbox 'DonatedPropertyVehicleInd' must be checked for the corresponding vehicle. (rule F8283-024)
You'll get this error message if there's missing information about a contribution of motor vehicles, boats, or airplanes.
Solution
- In Forms view, go to Form 8283, Section A, Line 1.
- Make sure there isn't an override on the form.
- Go to the 1098C screen in the Itemized Deductions folder.
- Review theVehicle or other identification numberfield. The VIN is generally 17 characters. You can find it on the vehicle registration, title, proof of insurance, or the vehicle itself.noteIf the VIN has fewer than 17 characters, enter a 0 in each of the remaining spaces to the left of the VIN. For example if the VIN is555555X555555, enter0000555555X555555.
- Recreate and retransmit the return.
