F8283-029-02 e-file error
If Form 8283, Section A Line 1 Column (b) checkbox 'DonatedPropertyVehicleInd' is checked, then a binary attachment [with Description beginning with 'Form1098C' or 'DoneeOrganizationContemporaneousWrittenAcknowledgment' ] must be attached to Form 8283 or the 'Form1098CPaperDocumentInd' in the Return Header must have a choice of 'Yes' indicated. (value X, rule F8283-029-02)
You'll get this error message if a PDF attachment starting with
Form 1098C
or DoneeOrganizationContemporaneousWrittenAcknowledgement
is missing.Solution
- Attach Form 1098-C or the contemporaneous written acknowledgment as a PDF with the correct attachment title.
- To specify a paper document attachment on Form 8453, enter1 Yes (in ERO’s possession)or3 Yes (in taxpayer’s possession)in theForm 1098-Cfield on the 8453 screen.
- Attach the donor documentation to Form 8453.
- Recreate and resubmit the electronic file.
