F8863-003-03 e-file error

Each 'StudentSSN' that has a value on Form 8863, Line 21 can only be used once to claim either Line 30 'AmerOppCreditNetCalcExpnssAmt' or Line 31 'LifetimeQualifiedExpensesAmt'. (value #########, Rule F8863-003-03)
You'll get this error message if the IRS e-File database says a student's SSN was used on another Form 8863.

Solution

  1. Go to the Educate screen in the Educate folder.
  2. Review the
    SSN
     in the
    Eligible student information
     statement.
  3. If it's incorrect, correct it, then recreate and retransmit the return.
  4. If it's correct, you'll need to file the return on paper with Form 8948.
