F8949-002 e-file error
For each property on Form 8949, Part I and II, if Line 1(f) 'AdjustmentsToGainOrLossCd' has a value, then the codes in 'AdjustmentsToGainOrLossCd' must not be repeated and must be in alphabetical order. (rule F8949-002)
This error is a result of duplicate 8949 adjustment codes.
Solution
- Go to the B&D screen in the Income folder.
- Open theSchedule for detailstatement and check the following fields for each row:
- Adj to G/L: If there's an amount in this column, you need to enter a code in the Adj Code column.
- Adj Code: If there's a code in this column, you need to enter an amount in the Adj to G/L column
- Adj Code 2: You can leave this field blank if the item doesn't have multiple codes. If there's a code in this column, make sure it isn't duplicating a code in the Adj Code column. For example, if you enter codeEWin the Adj Code column, don't enter codeWin the Adj Code 2 column. Leave the Adj Code 2 column blank.
- Recreate and retransmit the return.
