F982-005-01 e-file error

If Form 982, Line 5 'ExcludedUnderSection108b5Amt' has a non zero value, then the [ElectionToReduceBasisOfDeprecPropUnderIRC1017Statement] must be attached. (rule F982-005-01)
You'll get this error message if a description if missing on Form 982, Line 5.

Solution

  1. Go to the 982 screen in the Other With Return folder.
  2. Open the
    Description to reduct basis for Section 1017 property
     statement.
  3. Enter a description.
  4. Recreate and retransmit the return.
