IND-167 e-file error
'EarnedIncomeCreditAmt' in the return must be zero if an amount is entered. The e-File database indicates the taxpayer is not allowed to claim Earned Income Credit.
You'll get this error if, according to the IRS e-File database, the Taxpayer isn't allowed to claim the Earned Income Credit (EIC).
Solution
To electronically file this return, you'll need to suppress the EIC.
- Go to theEICscreen, in theCreditsfolder.
- Mark theNot qualifying for earned income creditcheckbox.
- Re-create and retransmit the return.
- If you want to claim the EIC for the taxpayer, contact the IRS at 866-255-0654 for more information.noteYou'll probably need to paper file the return with Form 8948.
