IND-182-01 e-file error
The Spouse Identity Protection Personal Identification Number (IP PIN) must match the e-File database. Please double check your entry and resubmit your return with the correct number. (value #########, rule IND-182-01).
You get this error if the spouse was issued an IP PIN, but it's not in the return.
Solution
- Go to theElectronic Filinginput folder.
- Select theIDAuthtab.
- Find the Identity Protection PIN section.
- Enter the 6-digit identity protection PIN inSpouse.
- If the taxpayer doesn't know their PIN, or if you receive this rejection multiple times, ask the taxpayer IRS' instructions to retrieve their IP PIN.
