IND-401 e-file error

If the filing status of the return is head of household, then 'ChldWhoLivedWithYouCnt' or 'OtherDependentsListedCnt' must have a value greater than zero or ['QualifyingHOHNm' and 'QualifyingHOHSSN'] must have a value.
You'll get this error if the return is marked as Head of household, but is missing either a Qualifying person, Social Security number, or Dependents.

Solution

  1. Go to the
    1040
     screen in the
    General
     folder.
  2. Enter data in
    Qualifying person
     and
    Social security number
     or the
    Dependent information
     statement.
  3. Re-create and retransmit the return.
