R0000-544-02 e-file error
If there are any dependents listed in the return, then the Primary SSN must not be the same as a Dependent SSN on another tax return.
You'll get this error if the SSN entered on return was entered for a dependent on another accepted return.
Solution
Check the following:
- If the taxpayer isn't a dependent of another, check the SSN:
- Go to the General folder.
- Select the1040screen.
- Check theSSNfield for accuracy.
- Correct any typos or incorrect information, then recreate and retransmit the e-file.
- If you're filing this return on behalf of a college-age dependent:
- Go to the General folder.
- Select the1040screen.
- Make sure theDependent of AnotherandMeets certain children age 18 through 23fields are correct.
- Correct any typos or incorrect information, then recreate and retransmit the e-file.
