If there is no Form 1042-S with 'IncomeTypeCd' having the value "01" or "07" in the return and Form 1040NR, Schedule NEC, 'OtherInterestAmt' in 'IncomeTaxRtOthUndTrtyRuleGrp' or 'IncomeTaxRtOth2UndTrtyRuleGrp' has a non-zero value, then the corresponding 'TaxRt' must be greater than 30%.(value xx.xxxx rule SNEC-F1040NR-018)

The value represents the Schedule NEC rate less than 30%.
If there isn't a Form 1042-S with a 1 or 7 in Box 1, the rates on Schedule NEC lines 1 or 2, column d need to be greater than 30%.
Solution
- Check the code entered in theIncome Codefield on the 1042-S screen in the Nonresident Alien folder.
- If it's incorrect, change the code, recreate the e-file, and transmit the return.
- If the code is correct and isn't a1or7, review theOther tax rateentered on the NRA screen in the Nonresident Alien folder. To e-file the return, these rates need to be greater than 30%.
- If the rate is 30% or less, you need to file the return on paper.
