Enter motor vehicle contributions for Form 8283
To record a motor vehicle contribution, complete all data entry for the contribution on the
1098C
screen, even if the taxpayer received a written acknowledgment other than Form 1098-C.- Go to theItemized Deductionsfolder, thenContributions of Motor Vehicles, Boats and Airplanes.
- Enter anXin theInformation below is reported on contemporaneous written acknowledgement other than Form 1098-Cfield if the donee organization gave details of the contribution on a form other than Form 1098-C.
- Complete the information in the 1098-C Facsimile or Contemporaneous Written Acknowledgment section.
- Complete the screen using the 1098-C facsimile as a guide if the donee organization supplied Form 1098-C.
- Use theReporting methodfield in the Other Information for Donated Property section to identify the page to report the contribution in Form 8283 on.
- Refer to the Form 8283 instructions for the information needed on Form 8283 for the donated vehicle.
- Attach Form 1098-C or an equivalent Contemporaneous Written Acknowledgment to the return when filing electronically. Attach the form as a PDF or include it with Form 8453.
