Qualify child for earned income credit when they're not eligible to be claimed as a dependent

A child can qualify for the earned income credit in a year when the child isn't eligible to be claimed as a dependent.
  1. In the
    Mos Home
     column, check the
    77
     and
    88
     fields. Data in either of these fields means the child is on the Dependent information statement as being claimed every other year for dependency purposes.
  2. Enter
    5
     (Qualifying child for EIC only) in the
    Dep Code
     column to treat the child as eligible for EIC in the current year.
