Enter education expenses

To enter qualified expenses for the tuition and fees deduction and education credits follow these steps.
  1. In the Educate folder, open the
    Eligible student information
     statement in the
    Education Credits
     section.
  2. Complete all applicable information.
  3. In the
    Ed Exp Codes
     column:
    • Select
      1
      , for the American Opportunity credit
    • Select
      2
      , for the Lifetime Learning credit, or
    • Leave blank for the Tuition and fees deduction.
Form 8917 and/or Form 8863 is completed based on the codes you select.
