Print Form 8689 for a U.S. citizen or resident who's not a bona fide resident of the U.S. Virgin Islands
Follow these steps to print and file a U.S. Virgin Islands return for a U.S. citizen or resident alien who's not a bona fide resident of the U.S. Virgin Islands.
- Enter all data in the return.
- Enter information in the8689screen of the Other with Return folder to complete Form 8689.
- Print 2 copies of the return using 1 of the following methods:
- Print 1 copy of the return. UltraTax CS prints both the Virgin Islands instructions and the regular filing instructions by default. Then make 1 identical copy of the entire return and assemble the return with the Virgin Islands filing instructions.
- Print 2 copies of the return. Assemble 1 copy with the regular filing instructions and 1 copy with the Virgin Islands filing instructions.
- Print 1 copy of the return. With the return open, selectFile, thenSave Asto save a copy of the return with a different UltraTax CS client name. With the new, duplicate return open, enterXin thePrint only V.I. filing instructionsfield in the8689screen to have UltraTax CS suppress all other filing instructions. Then print a 2nd copy of the return from the new, duplicate client.
- File 1 signed copy of the return with the U.S. Department of the Treasury and 1 identical copy with the Virgin Islands Bureau of Internal Revenue.
