Export 1040 client data into the Bureau of National Affairs (BNA) Income Tax Planner
Follow these steps to export an UltraTax/1040 client's data into the BNA Income Tax Planner.
- In UltraTax CS, selectFile, thenOpen Clientto open the 1040 client whose data you want to export into the BNA Income Tax Planner.
- From the Utilities menu, selectThird Party, thenBNA (Export)to open theBNA Exportwindow.noteYou must be in the Input Screen Data Entry or Form View for theBNA (Export)command to be available.
- If this is the 1st time you are exporting data into BNA or if the location displayed in theBNA client data locationfield is not correct, you must specify or change the drive and/or path for data export.
- Select theExportbutton to export the UltraTax/1040 client's data into BNA.note
- Due to differences between UltraTax CS and BNA, certain items don’t transfer from UltraTax/1040, and others may require modifications in BNA after they transfer.
- If the client already exists in BNA, UltraTax CS displays a message asking you to confirm that you want to overwrite the existing client data.
- If theBNA (Export)button is not available in the Utilities menu, the following issues may exist.
- You may be in Organizer view, rather than input screen view. To switch to the input screen view, selectView,Input Screen, then attempt to export again.
- The license file required for the export may be missing. Verify that theIyBNname.dat(whereYis the year of the application) license file is inX:\WinCSI\Licenses(whereXin the drive where the application is installed). If you don’t have this license file, contact Customer Service at 800.968.0600 to purchase the application bridge.
- Verify that the BNS Bridge has been installed.
Support: Beginning with 2008 UltraTax CS the BNA bridge function is installed with 1040, and the menu item in UltraTax CS is triggered by the xyBNname.dat license file. Prior versions have a checkbox in UltraTax CS Product Selection window to select for installation.
