Generate Form 4852 when filing electronically
If you have Form 4852 (a substitute for Form W-2 or Form 1099-R), you can still e-file the return if you have the employer or payer's EIN and address.
Follow these steps to generate Form 4852 when filing electronically.
- Open the return to file electronically.
- Enter the following information on theW2screen in the Income folder, or the1099Rscreen in the Retirement folder:
- Enter the EIN.
- EnterN(Non-standard) in theStandard/Non-standard W-2field.
- Complete theForm 4852 determination...andForm 4852 efforts to obtain...fields.
- Enter the employer or payer addresses.
- File the return electronically.
Form 4852 isn't included in the electronic file. Instead, the ERO needs to retain Form 4852 in the same way as for Form W-2 and 1099-R. Refer to IRS Publication 1345 for more information regarding IRS electronic filing requirements for Form 4852.
