Statutory employee wages

Enter and report statutory employee W-2 wages on Schedule C using the Income and Business folder screens.
  1. Go to the
    Income
    folder, then the
    W2
    screen and enter the W-2 information.
  2. Mark the
    Statutory employee
    checkbox in
    Box 13
    .
    note
    If you don't mark this checkbox, force the statutory wages on Schedule C.
  3. Go to the
    Business
    folder, then the
    C-1
    screen.
  4. Go to the
    W2 unit# for statutory employee
    field.
  5. From the dropdown, select the W-2 for the wages to report on Schedule C.
  6. In Forms view, verify Schedule C is correct and Form 1040, line 1 excludes statutory wages.

  • Selecting a W-2 from the
    W2 unit# for statutory employee
    screen in Field view automatically enters
    Code 1
    in the
    Self-employment code
    field on the
    C-1
    screen. Per Schedule SE Instructions, statutory employee net profits or losses shouldn't be included on Schedule SE, line 2.
  • To report partial W-2 wages or multiple W-2s on Schedule C, use the
    Statutory employee wages (Force)
    field.
