Itemized or standard deduction in filing status optimization
If you are married and file a separate return, you can't take the standard deduction if your spouse itemizes deductions.
You can ensure that both spouses show the same type of deduction. Force the separate returns to itemize or use the standard deduction in the Filing Status Optimization Utility. Select
Standard
or Itemized
in the Taxpayer
field.
