Print conditions for Form 8606

Form 8606 automatically prints the following IRS guidelines:
  • Nondeductible contributions were made to a traditional IRA in the tax year.
  • Distributions were received in the tax year from a traditional IRA AND traditional IRA basis exists.
  • Converted all or part of a traditional IRA to a Roth IRA in the tax year.
  • Received Roth IRA distributions in the tax year.
  • Recharacterized a Roth IRA contribution as a traditional IRA contribution, or vice versa.

Form 8606 is not required to report contributions to Roth IRAs.
Form 8606 doesn't automatically print unless otherwise required. To print Form 8606 when it is not required:
  1. Select
    Setup
    , then
    1040 Individual
    .
  2. Select
    Tax Return
    , select Form 8606 in the list, then select the

    option.
