Extensions dialog (1040)

Use this dialog to choose how UltraTax CS calculates and presents Forms 4868 and 2350.
To open this dialog, choose Setup, 1040 Individual, and then  Federal tab, and select the Extensions button.
note
Depending on your security configuration, you might be prompted to enter the master password before you can open an entity type tab.

Fields & Buttons

Correspondence group box
Choose the appropriate option to determine the reply address to use on extension correspondence.
note
  • When the preparer address is selected, the taxpayer name will also print per IRS form instructions.
  • To set this option on a client-by-client basis, choose an option in the
    Address for extension correspondence
     field on the Ext screen in the Payments folder.
  • These are new client options. Only new clients added after making changes will be initialized with these options.
Print preparer name on Form 4868
Mark this checkbox to print the preparer's name on the bottom of Form 4868.
Include the projected estimated tax penalty in the balance due on extension
Mark this checkbox to include any projected estimated tax penalty calculated on Form 2210/2210F in the balance due on Form 4868 or 2350.
note
  • If there is an entry in the
    Balance due on extension (Force)
     field on the Est screen, in the Payment folder, no estimated tax penalty will be included.
  • If this option is selected, any state extension processed also includes the estimated tax penalty in the balance due.
Create an extension without total tax liability or payment amounts
Mark this checkbox to create an electronic extension form without a tax liability or payment amounts. The electronic extension will include only the taxpayer name, address, and Social Security number.
Clear this checkbox to only create an electronic extension with the total tax liability and total payment amounts based on the taxpayer's preliminary tax data.
note
This option applies to electronic extensions only. Printed extensions will not calculate the total tax liability and total payment amounts when the
Calculate extension
 field is blank, on the Ext screen.
