Screen History - Tax Return History (1040)

Overview

Use this screen to enter income, adjustments, deductions, and calculations for the last three tax years. The tax application uses the information entered, the current year's data, and the Tax Projection Worksheet to calculate a Tax Return History Report covering the prior four years, the current year, and the projection for next year. The tax application also prints the report with graphical representations of key figures. Enter the amounts that correspond to the Form 1040 line items in the
History
screen. You can replace any amount proforma'd in the
History
screen if you have different amounts from those shown.

  • The charts aren't visible on the Tax Return History Report in Form view. The report will need to be printed to see the charts.
  • The charts of the key figures are also available on the tax application
    Home
    page. Select the
    Client Profiles
    tab, and in the
    Client ID
    section, select the
    Return History
    tab.
  • Charts can be printed as bar charts or line charts and the figures represented in the charts can be changed, or no charts can be selected. Select
    Setup

    tab and select
    Chart Options
    to open the
    Return History Chart Options
    window, where you can modify the Tax Return History chart presentation.
A custom paragraph may be included in the transmittal letter to describe this report. To select this custom paragraph on a client basis, select custom paragraph
Tax Return History Report (TL)
from one of the
Paragraph Description
fieldviews in the
Letter
screen. To select this custom paragraph to print for all clients, select
Setup
,
1040 Individual
, select
Letters & Emails
in the
Federal
tab, select the
Custom Paragraphs
tab, and mark the
Tax Return History (TL)
box.

Summary

The tax application uses amounts entered here on the line of the Tax Return History Report in place of any calculated amount. Therefore, you don't need to enter data in this section except to override the calculated amount.
If there are proforma'd amounts in these fields, and changes are made to any fields in another section, these fields will need to be deleted to let the changes to transfer through the Tax Return History Report.

Data entered in this section for the prior year will automatically update the corresponding fields in the
Summary
section of the
2Yr
screen, and data entered in the
Summary
section of the
2Yr
screen will automatically update this section.
