Credit for taxes paid to another state calculation

Refer to the
Help
(
F1
) for each state, any mutual agreements that may exist, credit for city tax paid, and other state-specific procedures.

Resident or nonresident returns

UltraTax CS calculates credit for taxes paid to other states for resident or nonresident returns.
note
The application calculates the credit on the resident return if there's a tax liability on the nonresident state return.

Nonresident returns

For nonresident returns, UltraTax CS only calculates the credit for taxes paid to other states if there's a reciprocal agreement (sometimes referred to as a reverse credit agreement) with another state.

Part-year returns

For part-year returns, UltraTax CS doesn't calculate credit for taxes paid to other states. To calculate the credit, use the force fields on the
STCr
screen in the
Credits
folder of the state's input screens.
note
If columns and fields that are turned off contain calculated amounts, this is because the residency was changed after completing the return (by selecting
File
, then
Client Properties
). In this case, you'll still need to use the force fields to calculate the credit for a part-year return.
