E-file error code W2-026-01
You might get the following error code when e-filing a return:
Business Rule: W2-026-01: At least two of the four withholding and wage amounts on at least one W2 statement are identical. (IRSW2.WithholdingAmt, W2StateTaxGrp.StateIncomeTaxAmt, W2LocalTaxGrp.LocalIncomeTaxAmt, StateWagesAmt) (rule W2-026-01)
Scenario
You get this error when at least 2 of the 4 withholding and wage amounts on at least 1 W2 statement are identical. There are amounts on the W-2 for federal withholding, state withholding, or local withholding that match each other. Indiana DOR rejects this type of return on the premise that there's erroneous data entry on the W-2.
Solution
Verify the data entry on the federal
W2
screen in the Income
folder. If the W-2 is correct, and any of the withholding amounts are identical, you'll need to paper file the return.
