E-file Home Heating Credit Form MI-1040CR-7 and error code 0900

Taxpayers without a Michigan filing requirement who are eligible for the refundable Michigan Home Heating Credit can e-file Form MI-1040CR-7 without preparing Form 1040 or Form MI-1040.
Do the following to electronically file Form MI-1040CR-7 by itself:
  1. On the federal
    ELF
     screen, mark the
    Suppress the creation of: Federal electronic file when only filing a state return/extension electronically
     checkbox.
  2. Complete all necessary data entry for the Home Heating Credit Claim on the
    MIRefCr
     screen in the
    Michigan Credits
     folder.
  3. Mark the
    Electronically file only Form MI-1040CR series
    checkbox on the
    MIELF
     screen. If this checkbox isn't marked, you'll get Error Code 0900.
    note
    You can only mark this checkbox once you've suppressed the federal e-file in step 1.
  4. Create the electronic file as you normally would. The Michigan e-file that you create will only contain the applicable credit forms.
