Overview

Use this screen to complete the Form 80-160, Mississippi Tax Credit for Income Taxes Paid to One or More Other States. This credit isn't available for nonresidents or part-year residents.
If UltraTax CS is used to calculate another state’s return and it generates a credit for taxes paid to another state, UltraTax/1040-MS automatically includes a copy of that return. When filing on paper, a paper copy prints. When filing electronically, a portable document format (PDF) of the nonresident return is attached.

State Income and Tax Information

UltraTax CS uses information in this section to complete Form 80-160, Mississippi Tax Credit for Income Taxes Paid to One or More Other States, which transfers to Form 80-105. Complete one unit of the input screen for each state to which taxes were paid. If you are processing a multiple-state return, process the nonresident state(s) first followed by the resident state. To complete the credit for taxes paid to other states, UltraTax/1040-MS transfers the necessary information from the nonresident return(s) to the resident return.
UltraTax/1040-MS automatically prints copies of state returns if you're using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return for which the credit for taxes paid to other states has been calculated.
State postal code / name
If you're using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return, UltraTax/1040-MS automatically completes the
State postal code / name
fields for the nonresident return. If you're not using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return, enter the state postal code, and UltraTax/1040-MS completes the
name
field.
Tax paid to other state
If you're using UltraTax CS to complete a nonresident return, UltraTax/1040-MS automatically completes
Tax paid to other state
for the resident state return. Use the
Force
column to enter the tax paid if it's different from the calculated amount. If you're not using UltraTax CS to complete a return for which you'd like to claim this credit, enter the tax paid from that state’s tax return in the
Force
column.
State adjusted gross income
If you're using UltraTax CS to complete a nonresident return, UltraTax/1040-MS automatically completes
State adjusted gross income
for the resident state return. Use the
Force
column to enter the tax paid if it's different from the calculated amount. If you're not using UltraTax CS to complete a return for which you'd like to claim this credit, enter the state adjusted gross income in this field.
Deductions
If you're using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return, UltraTax/1040-MS automatically completes the
Deductions
fields for the resident return. Use the
Force
column to enter an amount different from the calculated amount. If you're not using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return, enter the deduction from that state’s return in the
Force
column.
Exemptions
If you are using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return, UltraTax/1040-MS automatically completes the
Exemptions
fields for the resident return. Use the
Force
column to enter an amount different from the calculated value. If you are not using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return, enter the exemptions from that state’s return in the
Force
column.
