Screen MOSTCr - Missouri Credit for Taxes Paid to Other State (1040)

Show all hidden content

Overview

Use this screen to complete Form MO-CR. If you're filing an UltraTax CS multiple-state return, UltraTax/1040-MO automatically completes the calculated amount fields from the nonresident return(s). To adjust these amounts, or if you didn't use UltraTax CS to complete the state return for which you'd like to claim this credit, enter the amounts you want in the
Force
fields.
Tax paid to other state
When you prepare nonresident returns in UltraTax, the calculated values will be present.
Income tax paid by an entity
Missouri allows a credit on MO-CR for residents who are members of a pass-through entity which voluntarily elected to be subject to and pay an income tax at the pass-through entity level in another state through a program substantially similar to the Missouri SALT Parity Act.
Income tax paid by an entity
field was added to the STCr screen for the amount of
nonresident
taxes paid by a pass-through entity on behalf of the taxpayer.
UltraTax CS calculates
Income tax paid by an entity
on the MOSTCr screen for the following nonresident states: AZ, CA, MS, or UT. Like Missouri, these states treat the pass-through entity tax as a nonrefundable credit. When credits are nonrefundable, they aren't included in the calculated
Tax paid to other state amount
. Since Missouri allows residents to claim a credit for pass-through entity income tax paid to a nonresident state, the
Income tax paid by an entity
and
Tax paid to other state
amounts are added together and reported on Line 10 of MO-CR. Use the
Force
column to enter the
Income tax paid by an entity
amount if it's different from the calculated amount.
UltraTax/1040-MO automatically prints copies of state returns if you're using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return for which the credit for taxes paid to other states was calculated.
note
  • If you're processing a multiple-state return, process the nonresident state(s) first, followed by the resident state. UltraTax/1040-MO transfers necessary information from the nonresident return(s) to the resident return to complete the credit for taxes paid to other states.
  • Some states don't calculate taxpayer and spouse amounts separately. UltraTax CS defaults to the taxpayer for all amounts. Use the force fields to allocate amounts to both taxpayer and spouse for Missouri calculations.
