Screen NMAppt - New Mexico Income Apportionment (1040)

Show all hidden content

Overview

Use this screen to apportion business or farm income.
Allocation grid data from the federal level is not the same as apportionment factors. Even if you allocated income to the state at the federal level, New Mexico law requires the total federal amount to be apportioned based on in-state versus out-of-state property, payroll and sales factors. See the instructions for Form PIT-B.
For a nonresident return that meets all the conditions listed below; UltraTax CS automatically determines if Form PIT-B or Schedule CC provides the lowest tax liability and the appropriate form is produced.
  • Has no business activities in New Mexico other than sales, and
  • Doesn't own or rent real estate in New Mexico, and
  • Has annual gross sales in or into New Mexico of $100,000 or less.

General Information

Use this section to enter the New Mexico NMBTIN number.

Business and Farm Income to be Apportioned

Use this section to apportion business or farm income that is taxable to multiple jurisdictions. UltraTax CS uses information entered in this section to complete both the Form PIT-B, Page 2, and the New Mexico PIT-B, Page 2, Worksheet for multiple businesses / farms. UltraTax CS transfers the information from all federal Schedules C or F entered. Only the apportioned income section needs to be completed. If the apportionment factors aren't entered, UltraTax CS defaults to business / farm apportionment based on the postal code entered in the federal input screen. Postal code NM defaults to 100% and all others default to 0%. Only businesses / farms that have income from multiple states must have factor information entered.
