E-filing an amended Form IT-204-LL
You can file an amended Form IT-204-LL electronically, however, the electronic file doesn't indicate that it's an amended return.
When you e-file a 2nd Form IT-204-LL, New York will compare the 2 transmitted files.
- If the files match, New York considers the 2nd return as a duplicate.
- If the 2 returns don't match, New York considers the 2nd as an amended return.
We suggest that you file the amended return on paper with the correct information and attach a letter explaining what was filed electronically, with a check for the difference.
