Adjustments to Income

Military wages (Force)
UltraTax CS automatically calculates the exclusion for military wages. Active duty pay must be included in federal income to be eligible for subtraction. Included in this exclusion is all active duty pay earned outside of Oregon during the year plus up to $6,000 active duty pay earned in Oregon. Reserve summer camp is active duty. However, drills and weekend meetings of reserve units are not active duty. Amounts entered in box 16 on federal W2 Screen with a

Non-taxable federal pension received while a resident (Force)
Use these fields to indicate an amount different from the amount calculated. This amount is not multiplied by the percentage.
Non-taxable federal pension received while a nonresident
Enter the amount of any federal pension earned during the nonresident part of the year that are not entered on federal 1099R Screen with a postal code of

and state use code of

. This amount is added to the amount that has a state use code of

on federal 1099R Screen, if any, to calculate the subtraction amount for the federal column of Form 40P or Form 40N.
Taxable state lottery winnings

. If any of these amounts are from lottery winnings of more than $600 per ticket, enter the amount of taxable lottery winnings in this field.
Excess lottery gambling losses (Force)
UltraTax CS calculates the amount of excess lottery losses to add back to the Oregon return based on the amount of lottery winnings that are subtracted on the Oregon return and the amount of losses claimed on the federal Schedule A. Use this field to indicate an amount different from the calculated amount. For nonresidents and part-year residents enter other additions and other subtraction in the Nonresident Information section. Some other additions and subtractions for residents become other deductions and modifications and have a different series of code numbers required by the state.
Federal tax from a prior year
Enter the amount due on an amended federal return from prior year or from a federal audit that resulted in a balance due. The amount entered in this field is subject to the current year limitations for federal tax liability subtraction.
Other additions
Enter other additions to income that should be included on the Oregon return in the statement dialog.

Interest on certain installment sales
Enter adjustment for interest on installment sales that required payment of interest on the deferred tax liability for federal purposes.

Passive Activity Loss

UltraTax CS 1040-OR uses data entered at the federal level to calculate the allowed Oregon passive activity loss and then compares the federal allowed loss with the Oregon allowed loss to compute the adjustment on the Oregon return. Residents use this field to enter an adjustment that is different from the calculated adjustment.

Special Medical Deduction

Medical expenses of taxpayer age 65 or older
Amounts entered at the federal level for medical expenses will transfer to these fields if the taxpayer or spouse is age 65 or older based on the T/S/J code entered. Amounts can be adjusted, if needed, for expenses paid for a dependent.

Nonresident and Part-year Adjustments

Educational adjustments (Force)
UltraTax CS uses the amounts for student loan, educator expenses, and tuition and fees adjustment entered in federal Educate Screen or OtherAdj Screen with a postal code of
OR
. Use this field to indicate an amount different from the calculated amount.
Alimony paid (Force)
UltraTax CS uses the amount of alimony paid entered in federal OtherAdj Screen with a postal code of
OR
. Use this field to indicate an amount different from the calculated amount.
Federal election - interest and dividends received while child was resident of Oregon
If the federal election includes a child's interest or dividend income on the federal return, list the amount the child received while a resident of Oregon.
Other deductions and modifications
Enter the amount of other deductions and modifications, subject to the percentage limitation. This amount is multiplied by the Oregon percentage. All amounts may be entered as a positive amount. Amounts required to be included on Schedule ASC-NP as a negative are displayed as a negative whether entered as a positive or negative amount.
