File local EIT returns for a taxpayer and spouse who live and work in different cities
Follow these steps to file local Earned Income Tax (EIT) returns if a taxpayer lives and works in a different location (City A) than their spouse (City B).
- UltraTax CS creates a PAEITInc screen for both cities. Enter the city code for City A and City B in theTaxing authority city codefield to set up 2 units of the PAEIT screen.noteThe taxpayer and spouse incomes will display on both returns.
- On the PAEIT screen for City A, mark theCreate separate returns when jointfield andDo not print Local EIT returnfield for the spouse. This lets you print the taxpayer return separately.
- On the PAEIT screen for City B, mark theCreate separate returns when jointfield and theDo not print Local EIT returnfield for the taxpayer. This lets you print the spouse return separately.
- The Filing Status Optimization tool isn't necessary when you mark these 2 fields on each unit of the PAEIT screen.
