Reciprocal State Information

The state of Pennsylvania has a reciprocal agreement with Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia under which only the state of residency will tax employee compensation. For example, if you live in a reciprocal state and work in Pennsylvania, taxes are only paid to the reciprocal state. For more information, refer to the Pennsylvania DOR website.
Resident state attached
When a nonresident or part-year Pennsylvania return is attached and one of these states listed is a full-year resident return, mark the applicable checkbox to zero out wages on the Pennsylvania Gross Compensation Worksheet and continue with the calculation of the return.
Instate taxable wages: (Force)
Use these fields only when there are 2 part-year states attached and Pennsylvania is the nonresident state. Indicate the amount of wages earned in Pennsylvania while you weren't a resident of Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Virginia, or Wisconsin. UltraTax CS puts these amounts on the Pennsylvania Gross Compensation Worksheet on line 1, W-2 Wages, and zero out any line 2, Military Wages. These fields are available only when the
Resident state attached
field is completed.
