Overview
Use this screen to complete Schedule PA-40X. UltraTax CS uses the information entered in this screen to complete column A, As originally reported. UltraTax CS automatically enters data for the form’s column C, Correct amount, based on the current and active taxpayer data in UltraTax/1040. UltraTax CS then compares column C with column A to calculate column B, Net Change. Enter any information from the original return different from what's currently being reported.

In the statement window, enter an explanation of changes to income, exemptions, etc. to accompany the Schedule PA-40X. The amended return won't calculate if an explanation isn't entered. UltraTax CS enters

The amounts on the Schedule PA-40X are calculated based on data entered elsewhere for this return. Enter amounts in this section as they appeared on the original return, when different from the calculated amended amounts. Fields you leave blank in this section default to the column C, Correct Amount.
Transfer original information
Mark this field to enter the original data (as of the last time the return was printed) in the amount fields. Mark this field prior to printing the amended federal return, if it's also being prepared.
Use Tax
Enter the use tax calculated on the original return. UltraTax CS calculates use tax for the amended return when the use tax fields in the PAGen screen have data. Use tax can only be greater than or equal to the original amount. Use tax can't be refunded by amending the return. To obtain a refund of use tax file form Petition for Refund (REV-65).
Penalties and interest
Penalties and interest aren't calculated for a Pennsylvania amended return. Only enter any penalties and interest calculated on the original or previously amended return.
Contributions
Enter the charitable contributions calculated on the original return. The original contribution amount can't decrease on the amended return. Additional contributions are allowed when a refund is calculated on the amended return. UltraTax CS proformas these amounts to next year, plus any amounts listed on Form PA-40, Page 2, to the federal A screen.
Overpayment Application
Use this section to indicate how the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue should allocate the amended returns refund. These fields update PA-40, Page 2, refund, credit, and contributions fields.
529 College Savings Plan Contributions
A fieldview is produced in the account column of the statement window from information entered on each unit of the federal 1099Q screen with a

field, and an account number entered. If a fieldview item contains the words Invalid Number
, the account number isn't 11 digits long.The contribution entered is limited to the available refund on the amended return. When charitable contributions and a 529 contribution are both made on the amended return, UltraTax CS will apply the available refund first to the 529 contribution and any remaining refund will be applied to the charitable contributions.
