Overview

Use this screen to complete Form TC-40S. Multiple copies of Form TC-40S, Credit for Income Tax Paid to Another State are calculated. This credit is not available for nonresidents.

State Income and Tax Information

Copies of state returns are generated if you are using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return, for which the credit for taxes paid to other states has been calculated.

If your return is a resident return, the state you entered on the federal

screen transfers to

. If your return is a nonresident return, choose a state.
Adjusted gross income taxed by Utah and other state
If your return is a nonresident return, this field is calculated. Use the
Force
column to enter the AGI if it's different from the calculated amount.
If you manually completed a return for which you would like to claim this credit, enter the adjusted gross income from that state's tax return in the
Force
column.
Tax paid to other state
If you manually completed a return for which you would like to claim this credit, enter the tax paid from that state's tax return in the
Force
column.

  • Utah HB 444 affects income received from a pass-through entity, on which the pass-through entity paid tax in another state, and that tax was excluded from Federal AGI.
