Additions, Subtractions and Deductions

UltraTax CS uses information entered in this section to complete the Virginia Itemized Deductions Worksheet and portions of Form 760PY.
Expenses related to interest on obligations of other states
Enter any expenses related to Virginia source income from interest on obligations of other states that isn't used to reduce federal adjusted gross income. The amount entered in these fields reduces the addition for out-of-state municipal income on Schedule 760PY ADJ. The guideline income calculation for the Low Income or Earned Income credits defaults to use this amount; adjust the income to use the full expense amount as needed on the VANRPY screen.
Lump sum distributions (Force)
UltraTax CS automatically includes the lump sum income taxable on federal Form 4972 as an addition to federal income using code 12, Lump Sum Distributions. Nonresident returns include only the amounts entered on the 1099R federal screens with postal code
VA
in the instate income on Form 763, Page 2. Use these fields to force an amount different from the calculated amount.
Other additions
Enter amounts that are additions to federal adjusted gross income in this statement. The codes available for other additions are available in the list for the
Code
field in the statement.
note
The Additions for lump-sum distribution income (code 12), Cancellation of debt income (code 13), and Domestic production deduction (code 15) are calculated based on information entered in the federal return.
Disability income reported as wages (Force)
UltraTax CS completes this field using the amounts entered on the 1099R federal screen with a distribution code of
3
and the
Pre-retirement age disability
field marked. Enter an amount in these fields if it is different from the calculated amount.
UltraTax CS optimizes between the disability income subtraction and the age deduction on a taxpayer / spouse basis and uses the amount that is most beneficial.
Long-term health care insurance premiums
Enter the long-term health care premiums for Schedule 760ADJ or 763ADJ, Deductions from Virginia Adjusted Gross Income. Previously long-term care premiums would transfer to 760ADJ or 763ADJ from the federal input screens, however this is no longer the case.
College savings plan carryovers
Enter current-year qualified college savings plan contributions in the 1099Q federal screen, including the account / contract number in the
Account number
field. Use a separate screen for each contract. The amounts are combined to calculate the Virginia College Savings Plan Carryover Worksheet.
