Overview

Use this screen to complete a portion of West Virginia Schedule E, Credit for Income Tax Paid to Another State. A separate Schedule E is generated for each state or province entered. State income and tax information

When processing a multiple-state return, process one or more nonresident states first. UltraTax/1040-WV transfers necessary information from the nonresident returns to the resident return to complete the credit for taxes paid to other states. If the taxpayer or spouse is a part-year resident of West Virginia and you are processing a multiple-state return, UltraTax/1040-WV doesn’t automatically transfer information from the other part-year returns. Use the
Force
fields to generate the credit for part-year residents.
State postal code and name
When processing multiple state returns, UltraTax/1040-WV automatically completes the
State postal code / name
fields for the nonresident return. If you manually prepared a nonresident return, enter the state ZIP Code, and UltraTax/1040-WV completes the
name
field.
Dates resided in Pennsylvania or Virginia
For Pennsylvania or Virginia, enter the dates the taxpayer lived in either state.
Tax paid to other state
When processing multiple-state returns, UltraTax/1040-WV automatically completes the
Tax paid to other state
field for the nonresident state return. Use the
Force
field to enter the tax paid to other state amount if it is different from the calculated amount. If you manually prepared a nonresident return for which you would like to claim this credit, enter the taxable income from that state's return in the
Force
field.
