Cities and other returns spreadsheet (1065)

Use the
Cities and other returns
spreadsheet to enter city and other returns information for the apportionment factors. The spreadsheet consists of three tabs, one for each factor: property, payroll, and sales.
To open the
Cities and other returns
spreadsheet, select
View
, then
Apportionment
. In the window, select the state tab, and select
Cities or other return
. The spreadsheet is located at the top of the
Cities and other returns
window. Note that you'll need to have a city or other return attached to this client to open the
Cities and other returns
window.

Apportionment data entry

  • White fields:
    UltraTax CS uses the
    white fields
in the city and other return columns to complete the city's or other return's apportionment form. The amounts for the everywhere fields on the city or other return form transfer from either the
    Everywhere / (Override)
column or the state column in the
    Apportionment Information
    window, depending on the law.
  • Shaded fields:
You can't enter data in the
    shaded fields
in the city or other return columns. These fields are for components that aren't used on the city's or other return's apportionment form.
  • Statements:
    Some fields in the
    Cities and other returns
spreadsheet and city and other return tabs have statements to enter detailed information for this factor's component.
    If
    Statement
is underlined and purple in color, then the amount imported from Excel (using the
    Excel Export / Import
    tool) or transferred from the
    Asset
tab (using asset detail for apportionment) doesn't equal the amount within the statement. Open the statement and update the detail.
  • Column totals:
UltraTax CS calculates the amounts entered in city and other return columns and shows the total on the column. The amounts are calculated in the same manner as they are calculated for the apportionment form. For example, annual rents are multiplied by eight, and returns and allowances are deducted from sales.

Spreadsheet columns

  • Component:
This column lists the most frequently used elements for this factor. Components that aren't listed in this column are available in the city or other return tab on the
    Cities and other returns
    window.
  • City / Other return:
Enter the in-city amounts for the apportionment forms in these columns. Most apportionment data entry is completed in these columns. Note that only cities and other returns attached to the current client appear as columns. Data entered in a city or other return column isn't included in the
    Everywhere / (Override)
    column in the
    Apportionment Information
    spreadsheet.
