ELF critical diagnostic: Form 1120S, Item A, S election effective date must equal or precede tax year beginning date

Form 1120S, Item A, S election effective date must equal or precede tax year beginning date.

Solution

S Corporation
:
  • Enter an
    S election effective date
     on the 1120 screen in the General folder. The date must be on or before the
    Tax year beginning date
     entered on the 1120 screen in the General folder.
C Corporation
:
  1. Select
    File
    , then
    Client Properties
    .
  2. Select
    S Corporation
     from the 1120 dropdown, then
    OK
    .
  3. Remove the
    S election effective date
     from the 1120 screen in the General folder.
  4. Select
    File
    , then
    Client Properties
    .
  5. Select
    C Corporation
     from the 1120 dropdown, then
    OK
    .
