R0000-017-01 e-file error

If 'DiscussWithPaidPreparerInd' in 'BusinessOfficerGrp' in the Return Header has a choice of "Yes" indicated, then 'PhoneNum' in 'PreparerPersonGrp' must have a value.
This error happens when the preparer for this return doesn't have a phone number listed to discuss the return with the IRS.

Solution

If you want to give the IRS permission to discuss the return with the preparer:
  1. Open
    Setup
     and select
    System Configuration
    .
  2. Open the
    Firm
     tab and enter a phone number.
If you don't want to give the IRS permission to discuss the return with the preparer:
  1. Go to the
    General
     input folder.
  2. Open the
    1120
     screen.
  3. Select
    No
     in the
    IRS may discuss return with preparer
     field.
