Scanned Form 8453
There are 2 options to select from when signing an electronically filed 1120 return: (1) Practitioner PIN and (2) Scanned Form 8453. Option 1 is explained in Practitioner PIN. Option 2 is explained below.
Do the following to use the Scanned Form 8453 option:
- On theELFscreen, located under the Electronic Filing folder, complete theSignature datefield, but leave the fields blank in the Electronic Filing Personal Identification Number (PIN) Information section in the ELF screen.
- Once the return is completed, print out a copy of Form 8453-C, U.S. Corporation Income Tax Declaration for an IRS e-file Return, Form 8453-S, U.S. S Corporation Income Tax Declaration for an IRS e-file Return, or Form 8453-I, Foreign Corporation Income Tax Deduction for an IRS e-file Return. You'll need to sign the form as the Electronic Return Originator (ERO) and you'll have to have an authorized officer of the Corporation sign the form as well.
- To include this form in the electronic file, selectEdit,Electronic Filing Attachments, thenAdd.
- In theAttachment titlefield, select8453 Signature Document.
- In theProductfield, selectFederal.
- If the document was scanned into FileCabinet CS (needs to be embedded), select theFileCabinet CSoption and chooseSelectto select the appropriate document. If the document isn't in FileCabinet CS, selectFilethenBrowseto search for the document you want to attach. The document needs to be in PDF format.noteIf you want to proforma this attachment next year, mark theProforma information to next yearcheckbox.
- SelectOKto return to theElectronic Filing Attachmentwindow.
- SelectView Attachmentif you want to view the PDF file that'll be attached to the electronic file or selectOKto close the window.
