Overview

Use this screen to enter or edit contact information not entered in other screens.

Some of the information you enter in this screen is available for inclusion in the Client Contact Information report and in custom reports for Data Mining.

Authorized Signer

Social security number
The IRS request the social security number of the signing officer when filing electronically. If the officer does not have a social security number the IRS advises preparers to enter 888-00-8888, or if the officer chooses to opt out of providing their social security number, enter 999-00-9999.
The social security number will also be used to validate the officer’s signature when electronically signing the engagement letter, the consent letter, Form 114a, and the Bank Account Verification. Some states also require the officer’s social security number when filing electronically.

Client Information

Email address of officer
Email addresses that you enter in this field are used to send your clients an electronic archive copy of their tax return when the return is electronically filed and to send your clients an extra copy of the forms that require action when the return is electronically filed. The email address is also used in Data Mining to send information electronically to your clients. Email addresses entered in this field automatically update information in the Setup, Client Communications dialog or Utilities, then Data Mining, Setup, Email Addresses dialog. In addition, email addresses that are entered in the Setup, then Client Communications dialog or in the Utilities, Data Mining, Setup, then Email Addresses dialog will transfer to this field.
Preferred method of contact
Based on your selection, "(Preferred)" will display next to the item in the Client Profiles, then Contact Information tab on the UltraTax CS Home Page.

Return Information

Tax return delivery method last used
These fields are for informational purposes only and displays what delivery method was last used for the client copy of the federal return in the File, then Print Returns dialog.

When you select a consolidated client or batch print returns and you select the
Email PDF
option, you need to choose Setup, then Client Communications and select the
Email
option in the Return Delivery column for the applicable clients.
