Send shareholder K-1 packages by email

Follow these steps to send shareholder Schedule K-1 packages by email. You can use FileCabinet CS or FileDrawer.
  1. In UltraTax CS, select
    Setup
    , then
    Office Configuration
    .
  2. Select the
    FileCabinet CS
     tab.
    note
    If there isn't a
    FileCabinet CS
     tab in the
    Office Configuration
     window, select the FileCabinet CS option in the
    Document management
     dropdown on the
    Onvio
     tab.
  3. Mark the
    Print K1 packages to separate folder in FileCabinet CS
     checkbox, then select
    Done
    .
    note
    • This option is selected by default.
    • This option isn't available for GoFileRoom.
    • If you aren't licensed for FileCabinet CS, this option is available for FileDrawer.
  4. Select
    File
    , then
    Open Client
     and open the 1120 client's return.
  5. Select
    File
    , then
    Print Returns
    .
  6. Mark the
    Preparer copy
     checkbox, clear the
    Paper
     and
    PDF to file
     checkboxes, then mark the corresponding
    FileCabinet CS
     checkbox.
  7. Select
    To Cabinet
     to send the open client’s return and the related K-1 packages to FileCabinet CS.
  8. Select
    OK
     in the
    FileCabinet CS Documents
     window.
  9. In UltraTax CS, select
    File
    , then
    Email Schedule K-1 Packages
    .
  10. In the
    Email K1 Packages
     window, do 1 of the following:
    • To send a shareholder's Schedule K-1 package to the individual shareholder, enter the shareholder's email address if you didn't already do so in
      View
      , then
      Shareholder Information
      . You don't need to enter the recipient's name in the email greeting because UltraTax CS uses the salutation entered in
      View
      ,
      Shareholder Information
      , then the
      Other Info
       tab.
    • To send all Schedule K-1 packages in 1 email to a single email address, mark the
      Send to Tax Matters Person (TMP) rather than selected K-1 recipients
      checkbox. UltraTax CS uses the email address listed in the Contact screen in the General folder. You don't need to enter the TMP's name in the email greeting because UltraTax CS uses the salutation entered in the Letter screen in the General folder.
  11. Optional:
     Select a recipient for a blind copy of the email message.
  12. Optional:
     Change the document name or select a different password from the view attached to the
    Password
     field.
  13. Select
    OK
     to send the email.
