E-file California combined returns
If the combined group filing in California is not the same as the consolidated group filing the federal electronic return, you can't e-file California Form 100 or 100W. You'll need to suppress the California electronic file and file Form 100 or 100W on paper.
To file California combined returns electronically on Form 100 or 100W, complete the following steps for
ALL
members of the consolidated group.- Complete the data entry for the member of the consolidated group.note
- For member losses in the CACO screen, enter the member's share of the combined apportionment factor at the bottom of the CAAlloc screen for each applicable year. Each member's share of the combined apportionment factor can be found on the CA Combined Worksheet - Apportionment Formula & Entity Income/(Loss) Assignments in the Comb R1 folder.
- The following items don't transfer from the member clients. These items need to be in the combined client:
- Data in theOthercolumn inApportionment.
- Electronic filing attachments
- Noncalculating forms
- Go to the federal ELF screen.
- MarkFile this return electronicallyandSignature date.
- If you're only e-filing the California return, mark theSuppress the creation of: Federal electronic file when only filing a state return or extension electronically.
- Review all California diagnostics and clear all California ELF diagnostics for each member.
- Close out of all clients.
- SelectFile, thenPrint Returns.
- Mark both theGovernment copyand theCreate Electronic Filecheckboxes.
- SelectClientand select all members of the consolidated group including the consolidated client and the eliminations client, if applicable.
- SelectPrint.
- Follow the normal steps to send the returns via CS Connect.
