Election to be effective for tax year beginning
Enter the tax year beginning date on which the election to be a New York S Corporation is requested to be effective. If this field is blank, the S Corporation election doesn't take place and Form CT-6 doesn't calculate.

If a federal election is being requested the application automatically uses the information entered in the federal 2553 screen regarding shareholder ownership. If a federal election hasn't been requested, enter shareholder ownership in the federal 2553 screen and complete the federal S Corporation election before you enter data in federal screen. If a federal election has already been granted and only a request for the New York election is being requested, enter shareholder ownership information in the 2553 tab of Shareholder Information.
