Additions and Deductions

State and local income taxes
The application transfers amounts from the
Taxes and licenses
statement windows in the federal
Inc
and
H
screens, as well as from taxes in the federal
Farm
,
Rent
, and
4835
screens. To include state and local taxes on
Form SC1120, Page 2
or
Form SC1120S, Page 2
, enter adjustments to state and local income taxes in the
State Amount
column of the statement window.
Interest on other state obligations
Tax-exempt interest transfers from the
Tax-exempt interest
statement window from the federal return. To include tax-exempt income on Schedule A and B, enter an amount in the
State Amount
column.
Other additions
Use the statement window to enter any adjustments that will need to be added back to federal net income to arrive at South Carolina net income subject to tax.
Expense on other state obligations
Tax-exempt interest expense transfers from the
Expenses attributable to tax-exempt income
statement window in the federal
Mc
or
Ms
screen. To include tax-exempt income expense on Schedule A and B, enter an amount in the
State Amount
column.
Other deductions
Use the statement window to enter any adjustments that will need to be deducted from federal net income to arrive at South Carolina net income subject to tax. Employment Credits, Dividends, Foreign Dividend Gross-up, and Interest on U.S. Obligation transfer from the federal return into this statement window.

For S corporations, per South Carolina instructions, federal dividends are subtracted automatically as an other deduction. Dividends are only taxable to resident shareholders and are subtracted out of South Carolina net income accordingly.
State tax refunds
The application transfers amounts from the State tax refunds statement window in the federal
Inc
and
H
screens. The application assumes these amounts aren't deductible in South Carolina. Enter adjustments to state tax refunds in the
State Amount
column of the statement window.
